Two gardeners ‘guilty’ in weedkiller poisoning case

Monaco’s Criminal Court has reached the conclusion that two colleagues of an employee of the gardens’ maintenance department are guilty of causing involuntary injuries, local French daily Monaco Matin reports.

The victim had swallowed weed killer that was in an empty drinks bottle, the court was told.

The two gardeners were sentenced to a fine of 2,000 euros each, suspended. The Director of Urban Planning and the Head of the Garden Section were acquitted. The incident took place on June 18, 2015. President Jérôme Fougeras-Lavergnolle said that a claim for damages had been dismissed.
