Spain has celebrated the ascension of Prince Albert to the throne during an official reception that also recognised the important work of the Principality’s associations.
Under the theme ‘Monaco and Solidarity’, the event gathered around 200 people on 11thJuly in the gardens of the residence, which were decorated with visuals representing the actions carried out by the Princely government and various associations.
It was organised by Monaco’s Ambassador of Spain Jean-Luc Van Klaveren. Other attendees included various ambassadors accredited to Spain including Algeria, Luxembourg and Switzerland, representatives of diplomatic missions, staff of the Royal Spanish Guard, the Ministry of Spanish Foreign Affairs, and the World Tourism Organisation.
Also present were Danièle Biancheri, Consul General of Monaco in Santiago de Chile and Coralie Passeron, representative of the Department of External Relations and Cooperation.
In his speech, Jean-Luc Van Klaveren commended the actions carried out both by the Directorate of International Cooperation and the various associations such as the Monegasque Red Cross, Child Care Monaco, Monaco Collective Humanitarian and Special Olympics Monaco.
The next morning, a working meeting was held at the Residence with the Consuls of Monaco in Spain, followed by a luncheon to which the spouses of the consuls were also invited.
