Silva transfer to Monaco off

The deal appeared sealed between AC Milan and AS Monaco, but it’s been revealed that Portuguese striker André Silva will not be joining the Principality’s football team.

A recent medical has revealed knee tendonitis in Silva, according to reports, so it’s back to the drawing board for ASM. The name Ivan Perisic is being thrown around now, and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Croatian could leave Inter Milan before the end of August.

The collapse of the Silva deal has surprised many, but within a transfer window a deal can be derailed so long as the contract has not been signed by all parties. While the 23-year-old had packed his bags and was heading for the Rock, a medical visit revealed his knee was just too fragile. ASM therefore withdrew its transfer fee to the Italian club, estimated at 25 million euros, rather than risk taking on an injured player.

So ASM is looking to Italy once again, this time with Ivan Perisic, however its reported Inter are asking 40 million for the Croatian player, which is higher than ASM are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Foot Mercato says that Monaco are running an eye over two other Portugalinternationals. Southampton full-back Cedric Soares and Betis midfielder William Carvalho are both on the radar of Leonardo Jardim’s club, says the report.
