Monaco participates in the 25th OSCE Ministerial Council

Gilles Tonelli, Government Counselor-Minister of External Relations and Cooperation, took part in the 25th Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) held in Milan December 6 and 7, 2018. The Minister of Government-Minister was accompanied by HE Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Principality of Monaco to the OSCE, and by Mr. Lorenzo Ravano, First Counselor to the Monaco Embassy in Berlin.

In his speech, Gilles Tonelli congratulated the Italian OSCE Chairmanship for the efforts made throughout 2018 to foster a constructive dialogue on sensitive issues and to propose new areas of cooperation.

In particular, he praised the courageous and determined action of the OSCE Special Observer Mission to Ukraine to help ease tensions in the region.

Reaffirming the Principality of Monaco’s commitment to international law and the defense of human rights, Mr. Tonelli emphasized the need for concerted action by all States, to bring results the major international challenges facing our societies today.

The Government-Minister Adviser also emphasized the importance of continuing the dialogue on topics that could foster opportunities for interaction and sharing of good practices. As such, the OSCE Mediterranean Conference last October in Malaga demonstrated that the Principality’s theme of energy transition could generate positive synergies between states.
