Monaco’s most enthusiastic supporters, the Ultras, have criticised teen sensation Kylian Mbappe. The hardcore fans used Twitter to say that the transfer target had “proved nothing special in his few dozen matches as a professional”.

The Ultras said they were “amazed and indignant” at the amount of money involved in Mbappe’s possible transfer to arch rivals Paris Saint Germain and in his salary to extend his contract.

The 18-year-old striker’s problems came to the fore after he was left out of the Monaco squad against Metz last Friday. It has been reported that his sidelining was punishment for his bad behaviour towards a teammate in training last week.

Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim added: “Kylian is not at 100 percent. He is not in great form. But that is to be expected of a kid who is just 18.” Despite the Ultras’ claim, Mbappe scored 26 goals in 44 matches last season.
