Happy Monday to all you Premium Subscribers! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! I laid low. With the Cannes Film Festival and Grand Prix fast approaching, I just can’t see the sense in expending a whole lot of energy or effort before the festivities begin. It would seem I’m not the only one in this mindset: the mood over the weekend in the Principality was very casual as people were less into putting on a grand show and more interested in just plain old living.
Sky-high Louboutins were swapped out for sneakers and button-ups replaced with t-shirts. Call it athleisure, call it lowkey luxury, but this weekend was Monaco’s answer to a “casual friday” at the office. Sometimes dressing down is the new dressing up, and it’s refreshing. These are my favourite leisure looks of the weekend.
Somewhere someone is still trying to argue that leggings are not pants and in 2018 that argument is null and void now that the athleisure industry is worth billions. Michaela furthers that point for me in a chic ensemble of black legging and a white t-shirt. To keep the outfit from looking too gymwear, she throws a cream blazer on top to dress it up. Accessorised with a gold classic Chanel bag and Gucci Ace sneakers, she gives the impression of a lady who lunges and a lady who lunches after. The key to the perfect athleisure look is to add in high end items to give it that refined look. Oh Michaela, I love your Game of Tones.

It’s no secret that Gucci is my favourite brand at the moment and anybody wearing it is instantly a style star in my books. Lyes is decked out in some of the trendiest essentials of the moment. Gucci logo t-shirt – check! Gucci Ace sneakers –check and check! Paired with a pair of black motorcycle zip jeans and a Louis Vuitton Damier Graphite Toilet Pouch give it that city slicker vibe that’s sure to look right at home in a matte black Lamborghini. The great thing about luxury t-shirts is that they’re versatile. Throw one on with your swimsuit or under a blazer and you’re ready to pop bottles at JimmyZ. My eyes see you Lyes. Show the kids how it’s done!
Aloha Gianluca, I see we share a favourite Starbucks drink as well as a penchant for Hawaiian shirts. Not going to lie, once upon a time I shunned the grandparents vacation wear but then a few years back, when Hedi Slimane showed Hawaiian shirts in his collection for Saint Laurent, he had me digging through every vintage store in the Marais in Paris. This sunset reiteration on Gianluca goes great with his complexion and will continue to as the summer bronze sets in. A classic pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers add further to the 1950s vintage Hawaii mood, however, we are promptly brought back to modern day with his Kanye West designed Adidas Marble Cake Yeezy Boost 350 sneakers. With his tattoos and earrings, we may just be looking at Monte Carlo’s new fashion bad boy dark horse, sorry GMK kings don’t stay on their thrones forever.
Boutique owner Ana joins the #GucciGang as the most #Guccified of the bunch. Possibly making a personal as well as style statement, Ana dons a pair of Gucci Blind For Love round sunglasses but I’m afraid that she may be literally blind as she’s in the middle of the road! Body con is NOT what’s on for the weekend as she opts for a red t-shirt dress, a good choice as she chooses her accessories to be the focal points of her outfit. A beautiful blue velvet Gucci Marmont bag slung casually across brings some night to the day but what really has Ana standing out from the Gucci Gang is her sneakers – these are not the €500 Aces everyone else is rocking, these are the Rolls Royce of the Gucci Ace sneaker, €1000 complete with Swarovski crystal embedded platform. Okay Ana, put the competition to shame and leave them in the dust running to their local Gucci store.
This Hot Wife & Crazy Mom was running around Monaco looking crazy hot this weekend. Never one for overly fussy looks, Luganas looked fresh in a kelly green sweater that she matched to her Hermès Kelly bag in colour Bamboo. Saint Patrick’s Day may be long gone but she’s not taking any chances. Keeping up with her self-assigned colour palette, she rocks a pair of green velvet Gucci Princetown loafers with fur with striped tracksuit bottoms. Casual and comfortable but keeping in mind that in Monaco the devil is in the detail, she perfectly epitomizes weekend style.
