Embassy of Monaco in France greets diplomatic corps

The traditional greetings ceremony for representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Principality was held on Thursday, January 18, at the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris.

Gilles Tonelli, Minister of foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and HE Claude Cottalorda, Ambassador of Monaco to France, welcomed nearly 80 Ambassadors and Representatives of embassies accredited to the Principality.

Before presenting his wishes for happiness, health and prosperity for the year, Minister Tonelli expressed the support of the Principality for those countries affected by terrorist atrocities. He said that Monaco will continue to work for peace in international forums and will ensure that commitments made in the environmental, humanitarian, health and education sectors are kept and consolidated.

The Minister then read a message from HSH the Sovereign Prince who expressed his wish that in 2018 political and economic leaders commit to building a more viable and just world and that they work for sustainable development that favours a “green” economy.

After discussing Monaco news, including the importance of the negotiations with the European Union and the holding of the next national elections, the Prince conveyed his New Year’s greetings in Monegasque.

To date, Monaco has diplomatic relations with 135 states in the world and 114 Ambassadors are accredited to the Principality.
