Climate risk modelling and integrating sustainability within risk management will be on the agenda at this year’s Rendez-Vous de Septembre. The $600 billion reinsurance market is a backstop for insurers when faced with heavy claims for events such as natural disasters.
The annual gathering, the most important in the industry, always precedes the Monaco Yacht Show and has been bringing together the world’s major players in the reinsurance market since 1957.
More than 2,600 professionals from 80 countries will meet at the Fairmont Monte Carlo from 7th to 12th September including reinsurers, insurers and brokers, as well as lawyers, bankers, accounting and rating companies. Countries with the largest representation are Great Britain, France, the United States, Italy and Germany.
The Rendez-Cous de Septembre was created by the President of the Assurances Générales, André Roux, together with some other members of the industry, in order to enable players in the Reinsurance market to meet and exchange views and information on the state of the market at that period of the year.
On the programme this year: the cyber threat landscape, climate risk modelling for reinsurers and what investors can do to address this global challenge, integrating sustainability in risk management frameworks and blockchain.
The conference is managed jointly by the Rendez-Vous de Septembre Secretariat and the Direction du Tourisme et des Congrès de Monaco.
